He's a fictional literary character who went from being a pop culture icon, to a shameful caricature of Asians. Charlie Chan was the centerpiece of a series of novels, and movies for more than 30 years. KCLU's Lance Orozco reports that a new book by a U.C. Santa Barbara professor examining Chan's history, and legacy is drawing international attention.
