KCLU Wins Two Murrow Awards

KCLU News has been honored with two regional Edward R. Murrow Awards for excellence in broadcast journalism.

KCLU News Director Lance Orozco won a 2017 Murrow for “Best Breaking News Reporting” for “Santa Barbara County Brushfire Threatens Homes,” on-scene coverage of the June, 2016 Sherpa brushfire on the Gaviota coastline.

KCLU Anchor/Reporter Debra Green won a Murrow for “Excellence in Sound” for her feature story about some new firefighters undergoing hands-on training, called “Learning To Fight Fire.”

KCLU’s wins were in the Division Two small stations category, which includes California, Nevada, Hawaii, and Guam.
