KCLU Wins Five Golden Mike Awards

KCLU was once again the big Golden Mikes Award winner on the Central and South Coasts, honored with five awards for news excellence by the Radio Television News Association of Southern California.

The station’s Willa Sandmeyer and John Palminteri won the Golden Mike for “Best Radio Newscast Under 15 Minutes,” while Debra Green took home the award for “Best Radio Serious Feature Reporting Under One Minute.”

News Director Lance Orozco received three Golden Mikes:  “Best Radio Spot News Reporting,” “Best Radio Sports Reporting,” and “Best Radio Use of Sound.”

KCLU competes in the Division B bracket for stations that have a small staff size, with five full time staff members or less.
